We welcome on Monday morning (at 9am sharp!) our new Assistant Pastor, Luke, together with Fiona, Noah and Joel. We believe this is a wonderful answer to the prayer the Lord Himself encourages us to pray in Matthew 9v37,38: “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field”.
Some immediate points to note:
- A number of Luke’s books (not authored by him!) have already been moved and are being stored temporarily in my office. Initially Luke and I will share the office, as well as Luke using other parts of the building / working from home. However, a team is currently evaluating options for the creation of a new office for Luke, including converting the hall storeroom and / or extending the back hall.
- The church meeting on Sunday 14 July has been brought forward to start at 3.30pm to enable everyone to meet at 5pm for a short time of ‘official welcome / induction’ for Luke. This will be led by Mike Hitchings, Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, Upper Hale. A fellowship tea will then follow.
- Luke’s first preaching ‘slot’ will be on 14 July and he will progressively take on other / new responsibilities alongside me over the coming weeks and months. However, initially, he will also be focussing on the completion of his Masters dissertation with Moorlands Bible College.
Glancing through the conclusions of the New Testament letters we are generally exhorted to welcome, greet, support, pray for, encourage, even extend a holy kiss to each other – let’s do that and more to Luke, Fiona, Noah and Joel!
Peace and Grace
