The media build up, and the title ‘Beast from the East’, may have left you wondering whether ‘the end is nigh’. We do not, of course, minimise the extreme nature of the current weather nor indeed its severe, even deadly impact. However, the apostle John writing over 1,900 years ago referred to that time being “the last hour” (1 John 2v18) and God in His great wisdom and grace hasn’t told us when Jesus will return. We do know He is coming and I trust we are all looking forward to and preparing for His return!
Whilst we wait expectantly, I believe that God calls us to be ‘snowy people’. Consider these two wonderful references:
- Isaiah 1v18: “Come now, let us reason together”, says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool”.
- Revelation 1v14: ‘His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes were like blazing fire’.
The whiteness of the snow speaks of cleansing and purity, of being Christ-like. May the snow remind us that we are totally forgiven in Christ, and challenge us to be transformed more and more into His likeness as we wait for His coming.
Peace and Grace
