There are almost 60 ‘one another’ instructions in the New Testament, the most frequent being “love one another”. At the Wednesday homegroup last week we discussed how we can “encourage one another daily” (Hebrews 3v13) and noted that, just a few chapters further on, the writer exhorts us to “consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another” (10v24,25).
To assist in developing further such ‘one-anothering’, and to support the overall pastoral care of the church family, we have assembled a small team to ‘look out’ for each other. Each person has around 10 people on their list to pray for, to contact if, say, they’ve been absent from church services for more than 2 weeks and to ‘refer’ to me for any particular pastoral care that might be needed. I will be supported in this by Marcelle (our pastoral deacon) as well as, of course, Gill.
We pray and trust that God will continue to bless us with growth – both in numbers and in spiritual maturity – and this ‘look out team’ will hopefully ensure that anyone missing is missed, as well as all of us being encouraged and spurred on. However, let us all seek to ‘one-another’ one another!
Peace and Grace
