This Sunday at 10:30am: Who cares – about my loneliness?
Seeking to know Jesus and to make Him known to others

Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine near a spring, whose branches climb over a wall

Some may remember the above words, from Genesis 49v22, being prophesied over us by Greg Haslam at my induction nearly 6 years ago.  We have prayed about the fulfilment of these words and, for example, seen the ‘sending’ of Luke and Fiona to the Vine Church (and their church plant in the new community centre at Crookham Park) and Jason to the Church on the Heath as significant signs.

On Tuesday morning I received two telephone calls within about an hour whilst working in the office.  The first call was from a new member of staff at Gracewell (formerly the Ridings) care home at Tweseldown seeking to establish links between the home and CCBC as its local church.  Shortly after, with a similar intention, someone phoned from Keble Court, a new retirement complex being constructed behind Redfields Garden Centre.  I have arranged for three of us to meet at both locations early next week.

Are these further opportunities, in some way, to fulfil these words?  Let us pray that fruitful links can be developed and God’s Kingdom further extended.

Another example perhaps is the new Ladies Breakfast being arranged – refer to the notice on page 3 (‘new’, of course, describing the event not the ladies).

I believe, however, that God calls each of us to seek to be fruitful for Him, in the power of His Holy Spirit, both within and beyond any walls / boundaries that we face.  Are we branching out over such walls?  May we always remember that “here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come” (Hebrews 13v14).

Peace and Grace
