This Sunday at 10:30am: Who cares – about my loneliness?
Seeking to know Jesus and to make Him known to others

Presentation of Jesus in the Temple

I was informed on Tuesday (2 February) that the presentation of Jesus in the Temple is especially remembered each year on that day, being 40 days after Christmas. Luke describes the event in chapter 2v22-39; you may especially remember how Simeon took the baby Jesus in his arms, praised God and prophesied over Him and how the prophetess Anna also “gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem” (v38).
Luke’s account is a lovely picture of the Christian church – the young couple (Mary being thought to be a young teenager) and the more mature Simeon and Anna (Anna being at least 84 years old) worshipping and rejoicing together, totally about and focussed on Jesus Christ; a wonderful example of all-age Christian worship.
Our individual bodies are described as temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6v19) and the church itself is also “joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord” (Ephesians 2v21).
Let us pray and seek for Jesus to be present and presented in our temples – indeed for Him to be the centre and focal point of all our worship and lives. Let us also, whatever our age, be those who tell others of the wonderful salvation and redemption that are only found in Jesus.
Peace and Grace
